I recently watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and it reminded me of our very own candy factory right here in Portland. The Candy Basket Factory is a great place to visit for tours and lots of yummy candy.
This Portland based company has been around since 1934 and has continually evolved into the grand factory that it is today. Candy lovers are welcome to take tours of the facility and learn more about the company history.
The journey begins with a 21 foot chocolate waterfall welcoming folks into the factory. Tours are available regularly and are great for school classes, birthday parties, and/or individuals. The tour takes participants through 4 departments and lasts about an hour and a half. Each department illustrates the divine process of candy making along with plenty of sampling along the way.
The factory also doubles as a retail store where many more sweet confections are offered for sale.
Admission for the tour is $3 per person and must be scheduled in advance.
It’s a great way to spend the day “treating” the kids or yourself to a candy getaway.Neighborhood: Northeast Portland 1924 NE 181st Avenue Portland, OR 97230
