365 has had one heck of a week hitting the streets and talking to some of Portland’s COOLEST people! Portland has so much history, and hearing it first hand from some of the legends and businessmen this town has to offer, is quite the treat! In my humble opinion, these people are as cool to Portland as some of the big time artists are to the world. Today’s suggestion gets right to the core of my Rock-n-Roll heart. Earlier this week, Sari and I had the pleasure of sitting down with the owner himself, to talk about just how much the Roseland Theater rocks.
Sari and I have the pleasure of meeting with Double Tee Concert/Roseland Theater owner, David Leiken, who shared with us what Oregon’s oldest and largest concert company, was all about. The Roseland is by far my most favorite venue in town to soak up some of the great talent that rolls through our wet and rainy town, and David has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to talent, promotions, ticket sales, and venues. Some of the stories that David shared with us about the evolution of the music industry and his direct involvement with it, were true examples of the passion and dedication it takes to make a concept-and business- stick. On the Worldwide Club Venues 2010 year-end ticket sales list, the Roseland Theater came in at #13! Impressive to say the least. David, on behalf of Portland and the 365 girls, we congratulate you on all of your success!
The Roseland Theatre hosts several artists throughout the year and also serves a live recording studio. They have a solid reputation with both artists as well as audiences for their live sound quality, stage eye-lines, and set up. If these walls could talk, they’d boast about performances from Prince, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Tina Turner, and thousands more. The theatre is generally a standing room venue, but they do have limited balcony seating reserved for specific tickets, typically for the 21 and older crowd. Regardless of where you are, there literally isn’t a bad seat in the house. The stage is actually elevated higher than the floor for a perfect eye-line to the performance, and the venue is equiped with the highest quality production and sound. David was kind enough to give us a tour, and we watched as a band set up for a performance later that night. I can assure you, no details are spared at the Roseland.

Some of their upcoming shows include: Morcheeba, Good Charlotte, Girl Talk (Sari can’t wait to go to this one), Ice Cube, Lauryn Hill, and countless more.
Our favorite part about the Roseland: they aren’t specific to just one type of music genre, they love it all. So regardless of your music taste, the Roseland will undoubtedly have an upcoming show that you’d like to go see- and take it from us, you should.Click for map www.roselandpdx.com
